This victim of the Boxers, killed at Paotingfu was prior to her marriage “Bonnie” Sinclair. Her real name was Elsie Campbell Sinclair and she and her husband. Cortlandt van Rensselaer Hodge, had been playmates in child- hood. She was graduated from Bryn Mawr and he from Princeton in the same year, and they were married on Valentine’s day, 1897, and almost immediately sailed as missionaries to China. the murder of both has been announced.
